Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Currently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured 21 victories at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the last five games to go ahead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional championship, took control to force a third set.

The opponent rescued four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
